National Animation Contest for Vocational Education
Introduction
National Animation Contest for Vocational Education is sponsored by Ministry of Education Taiwan and held by National Yunlin University of Science and Technology (Yuntech) since 2005. The goal of this program is to train students in the field of animation, and provide them with an opportunity of interaction in global animation community.
Approach
Among hundreds films, only 40 are selected by the professional jury and submitted to international animation festivals every year. If a film is nominated in the competition program by the official, we sponsor the students' trip to the festival. It enables the students to learn how an international festival works and also grants them with an opportunity to see animations of different cultures. Moreover, the students are also encouraged to join such animation community by sharing animation ideas with other animators.
Works are submitted to more than 100 festivals every year. The following are 10 in the list.
1. ACM SIGGRAPH Computer Animation Festival
2. Annecy International Animated Film Festival
3. Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film
4. Melbourne International Animation Festival
5. Seoul International Cartoon & Animation Festival
6. Puchon International Animation Festival
7. Austria Tricky Women International Animation Festival
8. International Animation Film Festival Golden Kuker –Sofia
9. KINOFEST International Digital Film Festival

Summer workshop
A 3-week summer workshop
is held every year for those in need of assistance to complete an animation. Yuntech invites excellent animators to give lectures to students. The students, organized into 6-7 groups, come with works in progress, such as storyboard and animatic. Under the guide of lecturers, students improve their works, and complete them into complete animations in the following months. By joining the program next year, they will have the opportunity to take part in international festivals. Therefore, the program welcomes more international talents in animation filed to join.
